Last week my little man turned two! Birthdays have always been a big deal in my family. A birthday is one day a year where YOU DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO- Regardless of age (big or small) just a day to Be Happy. My husband and I wanted just that for Spence. So we decided to keep it simple and FUN for him by having a small family get together in downtown Brooklyn (DUMBO) by one of his favorite attractions Jane’s Carousel. I anxiously checked the weather all week hoping for a beautiful “warmer” day, and it was just that! The sun was just a shinning-perfect day.
We cut a cake that I baked (which was a disaster in itself). Being that most of our things are still in storage back in Louisiana I do not have my kitchen tools… I baked the cake in a cheap pan, the cake was falling apart as I tried icing it but… it just continued to fall apart… So in one last attempt to save it I threw tons of sprinkles all over it. Not bad but not great either. Ha. Oh well lesson learned don’t use cheap pans!
The kids went on the carousel and played their little hearts out at the park.
After the park we headed back to the apartment for dinner and my husbands niece brought over another cake from Fortunato Brothers. I had been practicing singing “happy birthday” the last few weeks and blowing out the candles with Spence. So when the time came to blow out his candles we had to re-lite it 4 times, because he had so much fun! PRICELESS.
All in all even with the cake disaster Spencer had a fun day and that makes this momma’s heart smile. Happy birthday again my sweet love, you are my world and you bring so much joy to my life. Although I may tear up when I say “My two year old” I can not wait to see what this year of “two” brings!
